FAQs - SPOT OWNERS
**all information in this section relates to owners of 2 or fewer parking spots at one address. If you are renting more then two spots you are considered a commercial operator and must click here for your FAQs
What kind of parking spots can be posted?
Only those parking spots to which you’re legally entitled to rent out. While I’m sure it’s tempting as you’re staring at your neighbors empty driveway to envision all the money you could make renting out their parking spot, frankly that’s not fair, nor is it legal. As part of our terms we ask that all owners verify that they have legal and rightful access to garage and if you have a spot to rent go on and list it with us. If you’ve got no backyard and no parking space at all, go buy yourself another place that has one and then come list with us! And sorry but street parking permits (government/municipally issued) do not qualify as legal.
I see that you can post monthly spots as well but that you also have an hourly/event directory – can I list on both?
Now now…let’s not get too excited. While we do recognize the opportunity to rent your spot hourly is a nice one, at the end of the day there are a whole slew of potential challenges with this option – from liability issues to payment and policing. SO – for now, our directory/lot listing is only available to larger commercial parking properties. Sorry folks, will keep you posted if that changes!
What if I have more than one spot to rent?
Good for you – it means more incremental dollars in your pocket every month! We are happy to take as many listings as you have but please be advised that if an owner/individual or corporation has more than 2 spots at the same address it does fall under our Commercial terms (please refer to previous question).
How much do I charge?
Now that’s a great question! Frankly, because you own the space, it’s really up to you. That said, we can’t forget the old rules of supply and demand. Parking spot seekers of course are savvy folks. They know what the guy down the street is renting his parking spot for and frankly (s)he doesn’t want to pay a penny higher (unless of course your spot is heated and offers a hand-washing service!). So, take a look at what others in the area are charging. Then put forth your desired rental fee. Worst case scenario, a prospective renter may decide he’s going to try and haggle you. Best part is though – you can always say no.
What will it cost me?
To search and/or to list a residential spot is FREE! A Listing Fee is only paid by the spot Owner IF the spot is deemed a commercial listing. A commercial listing is defined by us as any owner, individual or corporation listing more than 2 spots at the same address.
For larger volumes or commercial listings please contact us at info@parkingspots.com for more info.

What form of payment do you accept?
For residential parking, the Owner and Renters will deal directly with each other and payment is based on a mutually agreed to structure. All payments are then transacted directly between the owner and renter.
For commercial spot listings, we have aligned ourselves with Paypal or of course are also happy to arrange some good ‘ol fashioned invoicing if you’d prefer. To learn more about the commercial side of the business please click here.
How do I know if the right person is using my parking spot?
It’s easy. You will have their contact info should you need to give them a shout at any point. We also recommend getting their vehicle make and model from them just to be sure.
If I’m renting out a spot at my home are there insurance implications?
Each insurance company and agreement is different so at parkingspots.com we recommend you do a little due diligence and look into this matter before proceeding with a rental agreement.
If I have questions and want to speak to someone who do I call?
Us of course! Give us a shout or drop us a line and we can help solve any questions you may have. 1.866.373.0013 or info@parkingspots.com
